About this site
Who writes this, and how
Best Novel Writing Software is written by the team that makes Feldar, a writing app for novelists. Feldar is our product, and it is the first pick on our list.
Why we made it
People searching for novel writing software deserve one page that puts the classic tools and the new AI tools side by side, with real prices and honest limits. Most lists cover one camp or the other. We wanted a single list that a novelist could act on, and we would rather tell you plainly that we make one of the apps than hide it.
How the facts are checked
Every price, platform and feature of another company's app comes from that company's own website: its pricing page, feature page or help centre. Each fact on the home page was checked between 5 and 8 November 2026, and the pages we used are listed under Sources. When a company's page did not show something, we say "not stated" rather than guess. We do not use star ratings or scores, and we have not been paid by anyone on the list.
Our bias
Feldar is first because we made it for the job this page is about. We have tried to make the rest of the list as useful as if it were not there: each app is placed by what it does best, and Feldar's own review lists what it cannot do.
Corrections
If a price has changed or we got something wrong, email support@feldar.com and we will fix it and update the date at the top of the page.
